Russian President Vladimir Putin demanded that employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD) promptly stop illegal street actions and the spread of extremist ideology aimed at “rocking” Russian society.
“Provocations, illegal street actions or other attempts by the enemy and his agents to rock society must be stopped. Stop it promptly,” the head of state said during the collegium of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. In his opinion, it is the activity of organizing illegal actions and destabilizing society that is “the key to the enemy’s work against Russia.”
“We are reading operational documents where such tasks are set – to rock society from the inside,” Vladimir Putin stressed.
He also drew attention to the fact that the number of extremist crimes in Russia increased in 2022. According to the Russian president, employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and other law enforcement agencies successfully suppressed extremist activities and “attempts to destabilize the situation.”
Mr. Putin also noted the successful work of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to ensure road safety, order on the street and places of mass stay of citizens, and in transport.
Earlier, Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Lebedev said that in 2022 in Russia, the courts delivered convictions under the article on terrorism and extremism against more than 1,500 people. Of these, 875 were convicted of terrorist crimes, 693 – extremist.
