The President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, had no contacts and did not communicate with the head of the Kyiv regime, Vladimir Zelensky, for the past several years.
This was stated to journalists by the press secretary of the head of the Russian state Dmitry Peskov. According to him, the last face-to-face meeting of the two leaders took place in Paris in 2019 at the Normandy format summit.
Then Putin held a series of bilateral meetings – with Zelensky, with French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
After that, Putin and Zelensky held several telephone conversations in February and July 2020. There were no further contacts between the politicians.
According to RIA Novosti, Peskov was asked whether it is correct to believe that the presidents of Russia and Ukraine had not had any contacts for several years.
“Right”, — answered the representative of the Kremlin.
Formerly ex-Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov said that negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv could be resumed only when an appropriate decision was made by the United States.
As reported EADaily, while Azarov pointed out the complete absurdity of Kyiv’s position. On the one hand, there is a legislative ban on negotiations, and on the other hand, Zelensky himself (Ukrainian President Volodymyr) is in favor of holding negotiations on the basis of the UN.
