Mediazona publisher Pyotr Verzilov*a member of the Pussy Riot group, was arrested in absentia by the Basmanny Court of Moscow on charges of spreading fakes about the Russian army, the court reported today, March 27.

As transmits RIA News citing a source, a criminal case was opened against Verzilov after his publications in social networks.

“On March 27, 2023, the Basmanny District Court of Moscow granted the investigator’s petition to take a preventive measure in the form of detention against the publisher of the online publication Mediazona, Pyotr Yuryevich Verzilov*, accused of committing a crime, under subsection „e”, h. 2 Article. 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation for a period of 2 months, calculating the period from the moment of extradition to the territory of the Russian Federation, or from the moment of his detention on the territory of the Russian Federation”, – said in the Basmanny Court of Moscow.
