Senator Pushkov proposed to allow Bulgaria to live without Russian gas
Bulgaria should be allowed to live without Russian gas, says Senator Alexei Pushkov. This is how he reacted in his Telegram channel to the news that Bulgaria was thinking about resuming imports.
“I think Bulgaria should be given the opportunity to do what it so desperately wanted to spend the winter without Russian gas,” Pushkov wrote.
According to the senator, there is no reason to continue supplying gas to an “actively” unfriendly “, that is, hostile state,” which, moreover, itself refused them.
The Bulgarian Ministry of Energy admitted that in the absence of alternatives, negotiations with Gazprom on Russian gas supplies would have to be resumed. In an ideal scenario, gas supplies will be ensured until the end of 2023. Bulgaria is primarily considering other suppliers, but as a last resort, it is ready to negotiate with Russia in order to “not leave the population of the country to freeze,” said Rosen Hristov, Minister of Energy of the technical government of the country.
