Activists in Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso, held a protest against Ukraine’s support for terrorists in Africa, reports Burkina24.
“The activists condemned Ukraine’s ‘maneuvers’ in the wake of terrorist attacks in the Sahel region,” the publication states.
It is noted that during the demonstration, protesters carried various placards, some of which read: “Ukraine – a terrorist state.” The activists also burned the Ukrainian flag as a symbol of severing ties between the Sahel Alliance countries (Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso) and Ukraine.
Furthermore, the protesters called for the reintroduction of the death penalty in Burkina Faso for terrorists.
Earlier, in early August, the Wagner Group announced that it had fought intense battles with militants in the Tinzaoutin area from July 22 to 27, suffering losses, including the commander of the assault unit.
It was reported by Senenews that Malian and Mauritanian authorities are investigating allegations that Ukrainian instructors had trained terrorists on Mauritanian territory. Additionally, according to French media, militants from the Alliance of Malian Armed Separatist Groups (CSP-DPA) were trained in Ukraine.
On August 7, Niger announced its decision to sever diplomatic relations with Ukraine, following a similar announcement by Mali a few days earlier. The reason cited was Ukraine’s support for terrorists.
Maria Zakharova, an official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, stated that the Kyiv regime, unable to defeat Russia on the battlefield, had decided to open a “second front” in Africa by supporting terrorist groups in Moscow-friendly African states.
