Prime Minister of Georgia: we are doing everything to make the country a candidate for EU membership

The Georgian authorities are doing everything to ensure that the country receives the status of a candidate member of the European Union, the Georgian Prime Minister said on March 12 Irakli Garibashvili in an interview with the Imedi TV channel.

“Our country deserves candidate status. If anyone is sabotaging and wants to sabotage, it is these destructive, anarchist forces.”Garibashvili said.

He emphasized that the real progress of Georgia on the path of European integration began only after the Georgian Dream came to power.

Garibashvili accused the ex-president of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili in that he was one of the most “anti-Europeans” in his nature, in his style of government – a “mad dictator” who ruled the country with cruel methods, torturing and killing young people and condemning 300,000 people. Garibashvili called Saakashvili’s closest associates “murderers”, “tormentors” and “racketeers”.

Let us recall that Georgia has not yet received the status of a candidate for EU accession, as Brussels has set a number of conditions for Tbilisi to obtain such a status.
