Prigozhin: the law on discrediting members of the SVO should not apply to the commanders of the Ministry of Defense and PMC “Wagner”

The creator of the Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, sent an appeal to State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, in which he asked to review the bill on discrediting the members of the SVO. According to the entrepreneur, the document should not apply to the highest command staff of volunteer detachments, PMC “Wagner” and the Ministry of Defense, since it actually introduces a ban on any of their public and constructive criticism.

“This is necessary for the public and responsible exercise of their powers. Otherwise, any public and constructive criticism of their actions can lead to prosecution, ”says Yevgeny Prigozhin in an appeal (scanned document published his press office).

At the same time, the businessman thanked the deputies of the State Duma for introducing such a bill, since it “allows you to protect the rights of persons who protect the interests of the Russian Federation.”

Today, the State Duma committee approved amendments on criminal liability for discrediting combatants in Ukraine on the side of Russia (including volunteers). For repeated discrediting of members of the SVO, an individual can receive up to seven years in prison.
