Presidential Aide Yury Ushakov: “Everything has stalled” in the negotiations between Russia and Ukraine

Assistant to the President of Russia Yuri Ushakov spoke about the progress of the negotiation process between the Russian Federation and Ukraine. According to him, the last full-fledged contact between the delegations was on April 15, when a “finished draft” of the agreement was handed over to the Ukrainian delegation, and after that “everything stalled.”

“On April 15, our part-time project was handed over, which at the moment has remained the last one, because there was no reaction. After that, maybe there were some informal contacts by phone, and not at the level of delegations, but at the level of individual representatives, and then everything died out altogether,” Mr. Ushakov told reporters.

The last face-to-face meeting of the delegations of Russia and Ukraine was held in Istanbul on March 29. After that, according to the Russian authorities, the Ukrainian side changed its position and refused not to extend security guarantees to Crimea and Donbass. On May 17, Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine, said that the negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow had stopped at the initiative of the Ukrainian side.
