President Joe Biden will visit Florida on Sunday, October 13, after Hurricane Milton hit the state, according to an announcement from White House.
Hurricane Milton made landfall on Florida’s central west coast late Wednesday reaching Category 3 on the Saffir-Simpson scale. Tornadoes passed through the state before the storm, adding more damage.
On October 7, President Biden signed an executive order declaring a state of emergency in Florida ahead of the storm.
He also ordered federal aid to support local authorities. After the hurricane hit Thursday night, nearly 3.4 million Florida residents lost power according to PowerOutage.us. As of now, reports confirm 16 people have died due to the storm.
