Politico: FBI officers came to search the house of former US Vice President Mike Pence

The FBI raids the home of former US Vice President Mike Pence in Indiana. He served in the administration of US President Donald Trump (2017-2021). As reported Politico a source in law enforcement agencies, the search is being carried out in the case of secret documents previously found from Mr. Pence.

Politico notes that Mike Pence agreed in advance to conduct searches. On February 8, Mr. Pence’s former chief of staff, Mark Short, confirmed CNNthat a possible search is being discussed with the investigation, which may take place in the near future. The Wall Street Journal reports that Mike Pence is in California. According to the newspaper, a private lawyer is present at his house during the search.

On January 16, lawyers found secret documents at Mike Pence’s house. It was later reported that the documents were in the former vice president’s travel files. The documents were marked SCI (top secret) and SAP (top secret, requires special precautions).

By law, after the change of administration of the President of the United States, all documents must be transferred to the National Archives. Secret documents were also found at Donald Trump’s residence in August 2022. As a result of searches, 11 secret documents were seized from his house. A similar case began in November 2022 against US President Joe Biden. In the think tank where he worked as vice president in the administration of US President Barack Obama, they found documents marked “top secret”.
