Poland and the EC attended to the return of 16 thousand children from Russia to Ukraine

Brussels, 24 March 2023, 03:06 — REGNUM An international conference, the purpose of which will be the return to Ukraine of children allegedly deported by Russia from the territory where hostilities are taking place, is going to be organized by the European Commission and Poland. The corresponding statement was made on March 23 by the head of the EC Ursula von der Leyen at a press conference following the first day of the EU summit in Brussels.

According to Ursula von der Leyen, Russia allegedly “deported” 16.2 thousand children from the territory of Ukraine, of which 300 children returned to their homeland.

“Together with Ukraine and the Prime Minister (Poland Mateusz) Morawiecki created an initiative to bring these children back. To do this, we are organizing a conference, we are at the beginning of a very difficult work, ”explained the head of the European Commission.

Previously IA REGNUM reported that the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN Vasily Nebenzya confirmed Russia’s intention to return to Ukraine children evacuated from the conflict zone, but only after safe conditions are created on the territory of this country. Nebenzya called the problem about the alleged “forcibly sent to Russia” children are absolutely bloated.
