Sanctions against Russia in general and the Urals in particular
The European Union has exhausted the possibilities for further tightening of sanctions against Russia. This was stated by the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the European Union Vladimir Chizhov.
“Opportunities for further tightening of the sanctions regime have almost been exhausted today. This does not give grounds, of course, for some kind of euphoria, and even more so for the feeling that we have broken or won, it is too early to talk about this. But this line is starting to fizzle out due to objective reasons, ”Chizhov said on the air of the Rossiya 24 TV channel.
Western countries have stepped up sanctions pressure on the Russian Federation after the start of the Russian special operation in Ukraine. However, anti-Russian sanctions have led to negative consequences for the economies of the Western states themselves. Thus, Jason Bordoff, an energy expert from Columbia University, said that Russian President Vladimir Putin was not harmed by the reduction in gas exports to the European Union, but European countries are suffering from their own restrictions.
