Yulia Vavilova, companion of Telegram founder Pavel Durov, lost her child due to stress following his arrest in Paris. Durov shared this news on his Telegram channel.
“Yulia was strong, but unlike me, she wasn’t used to pressure. She wasn’t built for conflict. Two days ago, she visited the doctor managing her pregnancy. I had a 12-hour workday when Yulia sent me a message with crying emojis. I knew immediately what had happened,” Durov wrote, adding a link to Vavilova’s post where she shared more details.
Durov learned about her pregnancy from his lawyer during breaks between interrogations in France. He noted that Vavilova had been under intense pressure with rumors even circulating about her connections with Mossad.
Durov was arrested at Paris Le Bourget airport on August 24, sparking public outcry in several countries. French authorities accuse him of ten different offenses potentially leading to ten-year prison sentence.
On August 28, Durov was released on bail of five million euros, though he cannot leave France and must report to police twice weekly.
The Paris prosecutor, Laure Becco, stated that Telegram had caught investigators’ attention for not cooperating in identifying cybercriminals including in child pornography cases.
