Patriarch Kirill urged to pray for peace between Russia and Ukraine and for the Russian army

On the eve of Easter, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’ made several addresses in which he touched on the topic of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. On Saturday, April 15, while touring Moscow churches, he urged pray for the Russian armed forces, “which today stand in defense of historical Russia.” In an Easter video message, the patriarch urged Russians and Ukrainians to take action to stop the conflict.

“Today I am addressing both the Russians and the Ukrainians, especially those who have become involved in this conflict against their will. We must do everything by the power of our prayer, good deeds, good goal-setting to stop this conflict as soon as possible. So that peace and a common good life, fraternal relations again firmly unite our peoples, who were once the united people of united Rus’, ”said the patriarch in a video message. The broadcast was conducted on the page of the Spas TV channel on VKontakte.

Patriarch Kirill said earlier in April that Russia in “our current battle” is “on the side of the world” and “opposes evil.” In his opinion, they tried to “fool Russia without any war, draw it into their world, instill their values” and, when it became clear that “there is nothing in common anymore, all this led to a military confrontation.” He is convinced that “our current battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against the spirits of wickedness in high places.”

Patriarch Kirill conducts an Easter service at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow. Russian President Vladimir Putin and Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin arrived at the temple.
