Onishchenko urged to cancel mass New Year’s festivities due to the risk of an increase in the incidence

This year, it is worth abandoning the mass New Year’s festivities, as there is a risk of an increase in the incidence. About this in a conversation with kp.ru told doctor of medical sciences, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, former chief sanitary doctor of the Russian Federation Gennady Onishchenko. This is how he assessed the likelihood of introducing a new quarantine in the country, because the flu has been added to the covid, which has not yet gone away.

“Today, November has not yet ended, and there is already a significant increase in the incidence. <...> We need to appeal to the authorities: not to arrange any huge, massive shows and festivities. And not only because of the epidemiological. Also on a human level: our boys are now fighting, really fighting on the territory of Donbass, Luhansk, Zaporozhye, Kherson regions as part of a special military operation,” he noted, adding that the New Year is a family holiday, so it is better to celebrate it at home.

The specialist also said that he was worried about the increase in the incidence of H1N1 influenza, which is very noticeable in a number of regions of Russia. The expert urged not to relax and wear masks. In his opinion, the three-year coronavirus pandemic helped Russians change their attitude towards these important items of protection.

Also, don’t forget to get vaccinated. According to the academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, if an individual mask regime is not introduced in Russia and there is no control over vaccinations, then a pandemic “with all regime consequences” awaits citizens.
