Novak Djokovic pulls out of Indian Wells tournament

World number one Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic has withdrawn from the Masters series tournament in Indian Wells, Reuters reports citing organizers. Because of this, the Georgian athlete Nikoloz Basilashvili got into the main draw of the tournament.

Djokovic has not been vaccinated against the coronavirus and was denied entry to the US late last week. In the States, he was supposed to take part in two tournaments – in Indian Wells, which will be held March 8-19, as well as in the Miami Open from March 22 to April 2. By decision of the US government in the country until May 11, the ban on entry into the country of foreigners who have not been vaccinated against COVID-19 has been extended.
