North Macedonia bans the export of sunflower seeds

On August 11, the government of North Macedonia decided to ban the export of sunflower seeds.

According to the Albanian news agency Telegrafi, the ban applies to both shelled and unshelled seeds.

The export restriction will apply until December 31, 2022 and is associated with a food shortage due to the Ukrainian crisis.

In 2022, North Macedonia hopes to receive 11,800 tons of sunflower seeds, which will help cover the country’s needs for two months.
