The sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, deputy head of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea Kim Yo-jong said that Pyongyang will destroy the South Korean authorities if they “provoke” the penetration of the coronavirus into North Korea. Earlier today, Kim Jong-un announced victory over the coronavirus in the DPRK.
“If the enemy persists in such dangerous actions as provoking the penetration of the virus into our republic, we will respond to this not only by destroying the virus, but also by destroying the South Korean authorities,” said Kim Yo-jong, her words are quoted yonhap.
In July, North Korean authorities cited a “strange object” on the border with South Korea as the cause of the COVID-19 outbreak. The subject matter was not specified. However, at that time, the DPRK anti-epidemic headquarters ordered “to be vigilant about strange things found along the demarcation line and in the border areas.”
North Korea recorded its first case of coronavirus at the end of April. The daily incidence rate reached its maximum value on May 15: 392 thousand cases were detected per day. Kim Jong Un called the coronavirus the biggest shock since the founding of the DPRK.
