North Korea blew up parts of two inter-Korean roads on its side, according to Yonhap news agency, citing South Korea‘s military.
Earlier reports stated that North Korea’s army leadership announced plans to block and sever all roads and railways connecting its land with South Korea, starting on October 9. They also planned to fortify defense structures, informing U.S. troops to avoid any clashes.
“North Korea destroyed sections of the eastern and western highways that link the two Koreas, just north of the Military Demarcation Line (MDL), around noon today,” said South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff.

In response, South Korea increased surveillance and readiness. North Korea’s Foreign Ministry claimed that South Korea had flown drones over Pyongyang on three occasions—October 3, 9, and 10—to drop leaflets. They labeled this act a military provocation and violation of sovereignty.
North Korea shared thermal images as evidence, showing what looked like drone. However, South Korea denied sending any drones and dismissed claims as false.
