Let us inform that Lakhbir Singh (36), a resident of Tarn Taran district of Punjab, was murdered on the Singhu border on Friday. His body was found hanging from the barricade at some distance from the protest site. One hand of the deceased was amputated. The deceased is said to belong to the Nihang group. The reason for the murder is believed to be a dispute over the sacrilege of a religious scripture.
It is worth noting that thousands of farmers have been protesting for the last 10 months at three points of the Delhi border – Tikri, Singhu and Ghazipur – demanding the withdrawal of three agricultural laws made by the Center in September last year. Most of these farmers are from Punjab, Haryana and western Uttar Pradesh.
