A devastating fire at a nightclub in North Macedonia has claimed lives of more than 50 people, with over 100 others injured. The incident occurred at the Pulse Club in the city of Kocani approximately 60 miles from the capital, Skopje – AP News report.

According to the Interior Minister, fire broke out around 3 a.m. local time on Sunday. At the time of incident, nearly 1,500 people were present in the nightclub.

Fire reportedly ignited during a live performance by local DNA Band. As flames spread rapidly, panic ensued, causing a chaotic rush for exits. Many victims succumbed to smoke inhalation and intense pressure within the crowd.

Injured individuals have been admitted to multiple local hospitals with several in critical condition. Authorities are continuing to investigate cause of the tragic incident.
