NEET 2021: The Tamil Nadu government will take necessary steps to get the President’s assent to exempt the state from the purview of the National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET) test for admission to medical courses.
In his traditional speech in the newly constituted 16th Assembly, Governor Banwarilal Purohit said that the state government has constituted a committee under the chairmanship of Justice AK Rajan to study the adverse impact of NEET on socially and educationally backward students.
The Lt Governor said that on the basis of the recommendations of the committee, the government will bring necessary legislation to ensure that the students of the state are not badly affected by NEET.
Mr. Purohit said that the government would take necessary steps to get the assent of the President for such a law. It is noteworthy that DMK in its election manifesto had promised not to conduct NEET exam for the state.
