In the event of a nuclear catastrophe at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant (ZNPP), all responsibility will fall on Kyiv’s Western backers. Vasily Nebenzya, Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN, issued such a warning.

“In the event of a catastrophe at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, all responsibility will fall on the Western patrons of Kyiv,” Nebenzya said. His speech was broadcast on the Russia-24 TV channel.

On August 7, the Ukrainian military shelled a nuclear power plant in the Zaporozhye region. The storage of spent nuclear fuel turned out to be in the danger zone. The UN Secretary General compared such attacks by nationalists with suicide. The Russian Foreign Ministry warned that the consequences of Ukraine’s shelling of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant could lead to a catastrophe, which, in terms of consequences, would be worse than the Chernobyl accident.
