Navalny was transferred to a strict regime colony


Opposition politician Alexei Navalny was taken out of penal colony No. 2 in Pokrov (Vladimir region) and sent to a strict regime colony, his lawyer Olga Mikhailova said. Which one exactly is still unknown. The oppositionist’s press secretary, Kira Yarmysh, suggested that he was being transported to the strict regime colony IK-6 Melekhovo.

“Today, Navalny’s lawyer in the colony in Pokrov was told that Navalny was no longer being held there, he was transferred to a strict regime colony, but we were not told which one. This is due to the fact that the verdict in the new criminal case of our client has come into force,” said Ms. Mikhailova TASS. According to her, the defense will visit Alexei Navalny in the new place of serving his sentence as soon as they find out exactly where he is.

“Neither the lawyers nor the relatives of Alexei were, of course, informed in advance about his transfer. According to rumors, they were going to transfer him to the strict regime colony IK-6 “Melekhovo”, but it is still impossible to find out whether he is really being taken there and when they will be brought,” Ms. Yarmysh wrote on her Twitter page.

The ex-head of Navalny’s network of headquarters (recognized as an extremist organization and banned in the Russian Federation) Leonid Volkov (recognized as a foreign agent) also reported that the politician was taken out of the Pokrovsky colony.

“Alexey Navalny was taken away from IK-2. The lawyer who came to see him was kept at the checkpoint until 2:00 pm, and then they said: “There is no such convict.” Where Alexey is now and to what colony he is being taken – we don’t know, ”— wrote he is in his Telegram channel.

In March, the Lefortovo Court of Moscow found Alexei Navalny, who at that moment was serving a term in a colony in the Yves Rocher case, guilty of embezzling 2.7 million rubles. donations (fraud on an especially large scale, part 4 of article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and in insulting the participants in the trial in the case of libel against a veteran (parts 1 and 2 of article 297 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). He was sentenced to 9 years in a penal colony. Later, his conditions of detention were tightened, replacing them with a strict regime colony.

On May 31, the oppositionist announced that he had become a defendant in a criminal case on extremism. Alexei Navalny is accused of “creating an extremist group, inciting hatred against officials and oligarchs, as well as calling for unauthorized rallies.” He faces up to 15 years in prison. He does not admit his guilt in any of the cases.
