American billionaire Elon Musk has suggested that he might take measures concerning his social network, X, in response to the recent arrest of Telegram founder Pavel Durov in France.
The arrest has sparked concern across social media, with American businessman Vivek Ramaswamy posting on X, “Telegram today, tomorrow it will be X.” Musk acknowledged the post by replying with a double-underlined “100” emoji, indicating strong agreement.
On Saturday evening, French media reported that Durov was detained at Le Bourget Airport after arriving on a private plane from Azerbaijan.

Reports indicate that Durov, who holds French citizenship, was wanted by French authorities on various charges, including terrorism, drug trafficking, fraud, and money laundering. The French justice system has cited Telegram’s refusal to cooperate with the authorities as a contributing factor.
As Durov faces up to 20 years in prison, support for him has surged on Telegram, with channels worldwide posting videos, photos, and quotes of the entrepreneur. Many posts are tagged with the hashtag #FREEDUROV, and bots named “Freedurov” have also emerged on the platform.
