On Saturday evening, media reported that Durov was detained at Le Bourget after arriving on a private plane from Azerbaijan.

Reports indicate that Durov, holds French citizenship, was wanted by French authorities on various charges, including terrorism, drug trafficking, fraud, and money laundering. The French justice system has cited Telegram’s refusal to cooperate with the authorities as a contributing factor.

As Durov faces up to 20 years in prison, support for him has surged on Telegram, with channels worldwide posting videos, photos, and quotes of the entrepreneur. Many posts are tagged with the hashtag #FREEDUROV, and bots named “Freedurov” have also emerged on the platform.
