Mufti Krganov: Russian Muslims are concerned about the threat of migrant phobia

Muslims in Russia are concerned that migrantophobia (fear of migrants) is developing in the country. This statement was made by the head of the Spiritual Assembly of Muslims of the Russian Federation Albir Krganov.

“It seems to us that this topic is being escalated, the wave that has risen in Russia regarding migrants is being rocked. We are concerned that it could spread to Muslims who are legal citizens of the country,” noted Albir Krganov, reports “Kommersant“

In recent months, the State Duma of the Russian Federation has proposed many bans relating to migrants. First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Control Committee Dmitry Gusev told URA.RU that only 20% of migrants who came to Russia have a work permit. He insisted on a total check of visitors. The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Kolokoltsev, noted that it is necessary to tighten control over the issuance of Russian citizenship to foreigners. Those who pose a danger to society should leave the country, he believes. According to former UN Deputy Secretary General and ex-Deputy Head of the Russian Foreign Ministry Sergei Ordzhonikidze, it is necessary to modernize the country’s migration policy and introduce special exams.
