Moscow and Minsk provide security in a hybrid war – Kommersant

The Russian Embassy in the United States reacted to the statement of American officials and diplomats about the transfer of nuclear weapons from Russia to Belarus. The diplomatic mission believes that in the conditions of the “hybrid war unleashed by Washington”, Moscow and Minsk should ensure their security.

“We would like to emphasize that we are talking about the sovereign right of Russia and Belarus to ensure their security in the ways that we consider necessary in the context of the large-scale hybrid war unleashed by Washington against us,” the embassy said in a statement. Telegram.

Russian diplomats believe that the measures taken by Moscow and Minsk are in line with international obligations. Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu noted that control over nuclear weapons remains with the Russian side. The embassy urged the US to “do some soul-searching.” The diplomatic mission noted that Washington has been keeping “an impressive arsenal of its nuclear weapons in Europe” for decades and is conducting “joint nuclear missions” with NATO allies, including to work out the “use of special munitions” against the Russian Federation.

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko on May 25 announced the start of Russia’s movement of non-strategic nuclear weapons to prepared storage sites in his country. Russian President Vladimir Putin announced Moscow’s intention to deploy non-strategic nuclear weapons in Belarus in March. In Washington, the actions of Moscow and Minsk were described as “provocative”, in Brussels – as “leading to increased tension”, and in Berlin – as “erroneous”.
