More than 70% of Russians were upset because of the removal of athletes from the competition


The removal of Russian athletes from international competition upset 73 percent of Russians. This is evidenced by the survey data of the Public Opinion Foundation (FOM), writes RIA Novosti. 26 percent of respondents are indifferent to this decision.

After the start of the special operation in Ukraine, most international sports organizations temporarily suspended Russian players from competitions. Football, hockey, basketball, biathlon, gymnastics, athletics and other popular sports are banned. Also, Russia was deprived of the right to host most international sports competitions.

Half of the respondents were negative about the fact that some athletes changed their citizenship in order to continue their careers. 72% of respondents believe that the Russian sports authorities should seek the admission of athletes to the competition.

The suspension of athletes was first heard during the survey by 23 percent of respondents. 42 percent of respondents know about it, 34 percent have heard something about this topic.
