
Rabat, 28 April. The Central Bureau of Judicial Investigation of Morocco (BCIJ) has taken into custody 13 people associated with the “Islamic State” * (ISIS, banned in the Russian Federation). This is reported by the Arab media.
The suspects were plotting terrorist attacks targeting sensitive departments and locations across the kingdom. Arrests were carried out in cooperation with the national police in the cities of Casablanca, Beni Mellal, Mohammedia, Khenifra, Temara, Tiflet, Ksar el Kebir, Rissani and Berkane.
“The arrested 13 people aged 19 to 49 were involved in preparing terrorist attacks on sensitive agencies across the country. They did “extensive research” to learn how to make explosives,” the BCIJ said in a statement.
During the raid, security forces seized several pieces of equipment that will be examined by technical experts. Materials have also been collected, including speeches in support of extremist ideologies and publications inciting violent attacks and suicide operations.
At the moment, the suspects are in custody pending a judicial investigation aimed at establishing all the facts of the case and uncovering any other planned terrorist attacks.
According to a 2022 study, the North African kingdom ranks first in the Global Competition Index as a contributor to international peace and security.
