A monument to the first President of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh, will appear in the northern capital. According to the TV channel “Saint Petersburg”this was announced at the beginning of the Vietnam Week in the city, timed to coincide with the 133rd anniversary of the birth of the revolutionary and the 100th anniversary of his visit to Petrograd.
A number of events are planned for this period in the city, including a concert with the participation of artists from the two countries. According to Vyacheslav Kalganov, Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Foreign Relations of St. Petersburg, the corresponding decision was made several years ago.
“The idea of creating this monument was in the air. It was officially decided that the monument would be created in September 2019, when we were visited by the head of the propaganda department of the Central Committee of the Party, a member of the Politburo, Vo Van Thuong, at a meeting with Governor Alexander Beglov, it was like once this decision has been made, — he declared.
The four-meter monument will open by June 30 at the intersection of Ho Chi Minh Street and Enlightenment Avenue. In addition, an exhibition dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the politician’s visit will open in the Neva City Hall, and the archival committee will present materials on cooperation between the city and the Asian state. In addition, a conference on IT technologies is planned.
