Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Washington for a bilateral meeting with US President Donald Trump. Before the scheduled meeting, he met newly appointed US intelligence chief Tulsi Gabbard.

The meeting, set for Thursday afternoon (local time) expected to cover topics like ongoing trade tariffs, regional security, and global affairs.

Modi’s flight landed at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland on Thursday night. Despite the cold, Indian expatriates gathered to welcome him. US officials were also present.
After arriving, Modi escorted to Blair House the official guest residence. He will stay there for two days.
Soon after landing, Modi started his schedule, including discussions with Tulsi Gabbard about India-US relations.

Modi will meet Trump and top US officials over two days. As per the official schedule Trump will welcome Modi at 4 PM on Thursday, followed by the bilateral meeting and a joint press conference. Later, at 5:40 PM, both leaders will attend a state dinner.
Topics may include trade policies involving Canada, China, and Mexico, along with geopolitical issues. Modi expected to highlight India’s trade benefits while Trump may push for increased US exports to India.
Security concerns and strategic interests will also be part of discussions. Analysts suggest balancing US expectations and Indian interests may be challenging for Modi. There is speculation that he may seek US investment in India’s nuclear energy sector.
Additionally, discussions could include immigration policies, visa regulations, global trade, and regional affairs.

Ukraine and its European allies insist on being part of any peace negotiations, pushing back against Donald Trump’s overtures to Russian President Vladimir Putin, reported Reuters. Concerns are rising that the White House might strike a deal without them. “Any agreement without us will fail, because you need Europe and Ukraine to also implement the agreement,” said EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas. “Any quick fix is a dirty deal.”
