Ministry of Industry and Trade excluded Renault from the list of parallel imports


    The Ministry of Industry and Trade has excluded the French automaker Renault from the list of brands whose products are available for parallel imports, since AvtoVAZ has undertaken to service cars of this brand in Russia. The corresponding order of the department is published on portal legal information.

    “The Renault brand has been excluded from the list of parallel imports, since AvtoVAZ JSC has assumed obligations to provide warranty service for the brand, including the sale of spare parts,” the statement said.     The list was also supplemented by brands such as Castrol, Liqui Moly, Datsun and Alienware. Mostly medical brands were excluded from the parallel import order due to “special requirements for such products.”

    In May, Renault’s stake in AvtoVAZ came under the control of the Scientific Research Automotive and Automotive Institute (NAMI), subordinated to the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The French concern owned 67.61% in Alliance Rostec Auto created to manage AvtoVAZ. Renault has an option to buy back its stake within six years.
