The Ministry of Health of Ukraine warns of the danger of cholera in areas flooded after the destruction of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station. This publication reports MK.RU.
The agency notes that diseases associated with limited access to clean water, including cholera, may appear in flooded areas. The report also notes that this infection can be caused by mixing sewage with drinking water and groundwater, which in turn can contaminate wells.
Cholera is spread through contaminated water and food, and can lead to severe diarrhea and severe dehydration. If not treated, it can lead to shock, coma and death.
Earlier, the International Committee of the Red Cross announced its readiness to provide assistance to all those affected by the flood.
