The Ukrainian side asks to organize a humanitarian corridor for the evacuation of civilians from the Azot chemical plant in Severodonetsk, the head of the Interdepartmental Coordination Headquarters for Humanitarian Response in Ukraine, the head of the National Defense Control Center, Colonel General Mikhail Mizintsev, said in an urgent statement. The statement was published on the official website of the Ministry of Defense.
We are talking about the evacuation of women, children and the elderly to the territory controlled by Kyiv in Lisichansk. In this regard, it is noted that it is not possible to carry out a safe evacuation in this direction. On Monday, June 13, servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine blew up the last bridge across the Seversky Donets River in the direction of Lisichansk, the Defense Ministry explained.
According to Mizintsev, the militants deliberately took hundreds of civilians out of the city to the industrial zone of the Azot chemical plant in order to hide behind them as a “human shield”. The appeal of the Ukrainian side is regarded by the Russian military department as an attempt to withdraw the surviving units from the encirclement. “There are all signs of a repeat of the ‘Mariupol scenario’,” the statement says.
However, guided by humane principles, the armed forces of Russia and the DPR are ready to carry out a humanitarian operation to evacuate civilians.
