US received automatic notification from Russia about the launch of a medium-range ballistic missile (MRBM) “Oreshnik” in a non-nuclear configuration at target in Ukraine.
US then immediately shared this information with the United Kingdom and France.
According to chief military analyst at National Defense Magazine, this done to prevent possible misinterpretation of the launch.
On Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced progress in the Special Military Operation and confirmed successful testing of the new “Oreshnik” medium-range missile.
The missile hit a major industrial facility in the Ukrainian city of Dnepropetrovsk.
Half an hour before “Oreshnik” launch, Russia issued an automatic notification to US through the National Center for Nuclear Risk Reduction.
