NOVATEK is not negotiating with Gazprom on participation in the development of the Tambeyskoye field, said the head of NOVATEK, Leonid Mikhelson. His company has repeatedly offered to buy the field and direct the gas to liquefaction.
“There are no negotiations, the field is Alexei Borisovich (Miller.— “b”),” Mr. Mikhelson told reporters (quote from Interfax). .
The head of NOVATEK believes that Russia needs a producer of as much LNG as will be lost in sales of pipeline gas. “And decisions must be made on the run,” he added.
NOVATEK had previously refused to supply gas to Kamchatka at a loss, but offered to find the necessary volumes of LNG for the region in exchange for expanding its resource base in Yamal. In particular, they talked about Gazprom’s Tambeyskoye field.
