Former Russian President and now Deputy Chairman of the country’s Security Council Dmitry Medvedev spoke about the possibility of resuming negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv.
Thus, he commented on the statement of the head of the Servant of the People faction in the Verkhovna Rada David Arakhamiawho led the Ukrainian delegation at the talks.
He earlier in an interview with Voice of America (foreign media, recognized in the Russian Federation as a foreign agent) said that Russian-Ukrainian negotiations could begin in August.
“The chief negotiator from Ukraine considers it possible to resume negotiations with Russia from the end of August. Could be so. The question is whether he will talk about what and with whom, ”Medvedev wrote in his Telegram-channel.
As reported EADailyArakhamia expressed confidence that Kyiv would conduct a new round of negotiations with Moscow “from a position of strength”, since, according to the calculations of the “servants of the people”, by that time the Ukrainian army would go on the counteroffensive and defeat the “Russian invaders”.
Recall that Russian-Ukrainian negotiations have been ongoing since February 28. Several meetings took place in Belarus, then the parties continued to communicate via video link.
At the end of March, a face-to-face round of negotiations took place in Istanbul, during which Moscow handed over to Kyiv a draft document on agreements with clear language. There was no answer, the negotiations stopped.
