Viktor Mokhov, known as the “Skopin maniac”, is suspected of covering up the murder. The fact that Viktor Mokhov is the defendant in the case is reported “RIA News” and TASS with reference to law enforcement sources.
On August 7, a corpse was found in the courtyard of one of the abandoned houses in the Skopinsky district, informs Investigative Committee of Russia for the Ryazan region. The investigation established that on August 2, the suspect in the murder, being in the house of his friend, hit the deceased during a quarrel. As a result, he died.
“In order to hide the traces of the committed crime, the suspect, together with his acquaintance, moved the body of the deceased to the courtyard of an abandoned house at night,” the regional Investigative Committee reports. On this fact, a criminal case was initiated on the grounds of a crime under Part 2 of Art. 316 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (previously not promised concealment of a crime).
A man born in 1950, previously convicted of kidnapping two minors, rape and sexual assault against persons under the age of 18, is suspected of committing this crime, the regional ICR reports, without naming the defendant. The suspect confessed, the issue of choosing a measure of restraint is being decided.
Viktor Mokhov was sentenced to 16 years and 10 months in prison in 2005 for kidnapping and raping two teenage girls. He was released in early March 2021.
