Maxim Katz* was arrested in absentia in the case of fakes about the army

The Basmanny Court of Moscow arrested in absentia for two months a blogger and a former deputy of the municipal assembly of the Moscow region Shchukino Maxim Katz * in a criminal case about fakes about the Russian army. Information about this is contained in the file on the website of the court.

According to the case file, Katz is accused of disseminating deliberately false information about the Russian Armed Forces (Part 1 of Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The maximum penalty for this offense is 3 years in prison.

At the end of July, the Ministry of Justice entered Katz* into the register of individuals acting as a foreign agent. The basis for inclusion in the list is “carrying out political activities”, while Ukraine is recorded in the data on foreign sources.

At the end of October, the Ministry of Internal Affairs put Katz on the wanted list. The suspect is currently abroad. On March 9 this year, he was put on the international wanted list.
