Matvienko visits Algeria and delivers Putin’s message — EADaily, March 17, 2023 — Politics News, Russia News

Valentina Matvienko said that Algeria is an important and trusted partner of Russia on the African continent. This was reported by the press service of the Federation Council.

Speaker of the Federation Council following the meeting with the President of Algeria Abdelmajid Tebbun stated that the country remains an important trade and economic partner for Russia.

Valentina Matvienko thanked the head of the Algerian state for a balanced and independent foreign policy and for the consistency of actions in building bilateral relations with Russia. According to her, the cooperation of both countries is not amenable to conjuncture and outside influence.

Both countries also have similar positions on the international agenda, the speaker of the upper house noted. Russia and Algeria oppose interference in the sovereign affairs of other states and for the inalienable right of each country to determine its own path of development:

“We stand for a just, democratic, multipolar world. This creates a good basis for our interaction at the United Nations and other international platforms.”

Algeria has expressed a desire to join the BRICS format, and Russia supports this intention and will assist it in every possible way, said the Chairman of the Federation Council.

During the meeting, she conveyed a message from the President of Russia to Abdelmajid Tebbun Vladimir Putinin which he invited the President of Algeria to pay an official visit to Russia, and also to take part in the second Russia-Africa summit.
