The ninth parliamentary forum “Historical and cultural heritage of Russia”, which is regularly held in different regions of Russia, will be dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the outstanding poet Rasul Gamzatov and will be held in 2023 in his homeland, Dagestan. This was stated on December 1 by the Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko during a meeting in the Chamber of Regions with the heads of centers of folk art, houses and palaces of culture, cultural and art figures.

The speaker recalled that last year the parliamentary forum “Historical and Cultural Heritage of Russia” was held in Yaroslavl. The next IX Forum will be held in 2023 in Dagestan. “The event will be dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the outstanding Dagestan poet Rasul Gamzatov, who made an invaluable contribution to the development of the national culture of his people and Russian culture in general,” Matvienko said.

She stressed that the Federation Council pays special attention to the preservation of historical and cultural heritage and regularly organizes major events dedicated to this in different regions. Matvienko drew attention to the fact that the global forum of creative territories held under the auspices of the Federation Council this year in Nizhny Novgorod, where folk art crafts from different regions of Russia were presented, aroused great interest.

“As a result of these events, a number of legislative initiatives were adopted and implemented. Important cultural heritage sites have also been restored, such as, for example, the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the city of Ivanovo, said Valentina Matvienko.
