The country’s largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India has recorded record sales of CNG vehicles in the financial year 2020-21. The company said that it sold 1.57 lakh CNG cars during this period. Earlier in the financial year 2019-20, the company sold 1,06,444 CNG vehicles.
MSI sells ready-made CNG cars in its factory. These include models such as Alto, Celerio, Wagon-R, S-Preso, Eco, Ertiga, Tus A, and Super Carry. MSI Executive Director (Marketing and Sales) Shashank Srivastava said that we see CNG as a technology that has set a new benchmark in green fuel.
Shashank Srivastava said that Maruti Suzuki gives its customers wide choice of CNG cars fitted in the factory. Due to CNG being cheaper than petrol and diesel, it is becoming the most preferred alternative fuel.
Earlier on Tuesday, the company said that in 2020-21, the Swift, Baleno, Wagon R, Alto, and Dzire have become the best-selling cars. The company said that Swift stood first with 1.72 lakh units, while Baleno stood second with 1.63 lakh units. Talking about the last financial year 2021-21, these five best-selling cars have maintained their attraction for the fourth consecutive year.
Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) said that WagonR stood at third position with 1.60 lakh units. Alto has sold 1.59 lakh units and Dzire 1.28 lakh units during this period. Talking about the top 10 cars of the financial year 2020-21, it includes 7 models of the company. According to the company, Maruti Suzuki has been the best-selling four cars for the last decade.
MSI said that these models contributed about 30 percent of the total passenger vehicle sales in 2020-21. The company said that its top five vehicles in terms of sales for the fourth consecutive year belong to it. MSI Executive Director Shashank Srivastava said that despite increasing competition, the top five passenger vehicles for sale in 2020-21 belong to Maruti Suzuki.
