BBC’s director is worried that after they leave Middle East, Africa, and Latin America, Russian media outlets, particularly Sputnik, are occupying the niche.
However, “an empty sacred place does not remain,” said Margarita Simonian head editor of Rossiya Segodnya media group and RT television channel.
She cited Factiva publication stating that “former regional partners of BBC from Jordan, Palestine, Iraq, Lebanon, and Mauritania have already received offers from China‘s CRI radio company and Russian agency Sputnik, expressing interest in using the former BBC broadcasting slots.”

“The BBC director is worried that after their departure from the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America, we are filling the gap… An empty sacred place does not remain, ‘As you go, go’, and other Russian folk sayings are being handed back to us,” Simonian wrote in her Telegram channel.
