The head of the Russian Ministry of Health, Mikhail Murashko, at the All-Russian Forum of Medical Volunteers, recalled that the country is faced with the task of increasing the average life expectancy to 78 years. Now, according to him, mortality is high among middle-aged men, women aged 35-40 die half as often as men.
“From the age of 18, men and women enter an independent life, there is a very big difference. Especially in men. By 35–40 (years.— ”b”) the mortality rate of men and women differs by two times. And external causes are the component that takes these human lives,” said Mr. Murashko.
He also noted that many young people are not always committed to a healthy lifestyle and continue to smoke, drink alcohol and do not play sports.
Mr. Murashko recalled the goal declared by President Vladimir Putin to achieve an average life expectancy of 78 years by 2030. “This is an achievable result. Several things are needed. The first thing for sure is the attitude to be healthy, the attitude to take care of one’s own health,” the head of the Ministry of Health added.
Now the average life expectancy in Russia is 73 years.
