Where is former Mumbai Police Commissioner Parambir Singh at present? Nobody knows. There are reports about Parambir Singh, who is facing NIA investigation, that he has fled the country. It is being said that the former commissioner has fled to Russia. Maharashtra Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil, on the question of Parambir Singh fleeing to Russia, said, “Along with the Union Home Ministry, we are also finding out about him. I have also heard of him leaving the country but as a government official. They cannot go abroad without getting the green signal from the government. Maharashtra Home Minister said that we have issued a look out notice and if he has left then it is not right.
Parambir Singh appeared before the National Investigation Agency on 7 April after the summons were issued in the Antilia bomb case. According to some media reports, Parambir Singh was transferred to the Home Guard Department on March 17 after the Antilia case. He took over his post on 22 March and is said to have come to office by 4 May. After that, citing health reasons, he went on leave from May 5.
After this, in the second week of August, he once again asked to extend the leave and went on leave till 29 August. But since then there has been no communication from him. Even after summons from the NIA in August, he did not appear. The NIA and the investigating agencies of the state of Maharashtra suspect that Parambir Singh has left the country for fear of arrest.
Maharashtra DGP Sanjay Pandey has recommended suspension of former commissioner Parambir Singh and 25 other police officers. Many cases including corruption and extortion are registered against Parambir Singh. ACB is also investigating against him in two cases. Parambir Singh had also accused former Home Minister Anil Deshmukh of extorting 100 crores. In this case, Deshmukh also had to lose his ministerial post.
