Serbia, like all of Europe, is facing the question of maintaining a unified front against Russia and defending shared EU values, French President Emmanuel Macron stated in an authored text for the Serbian publication “Politika” ahead of his visit to Belgrade.
Earlier, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced that he plans to discuss the purchase of Rafale fighter jets, energy and economic cooperation, as well as IT sector collaboration with Macron during his two-day visit to Serbia on August 29-30.
“The question that stands before Serbia and all of us Europeans at this moment is not just about the need to maintain a unified front against Russia, but about the type of society our youth will want to live in tomorrow. There is no doubt that young people in Serbia will have the same answer as young people in France,” the French President said.

In his opinion, the EU is a “bulwark against populism, demagogy, and extremism” and a territory of economic prosperity for the French and citizens of European countries and Serbia.
As announced by the Serbian President, Macron will be received in Belgrade at the highest level. An honorary meeting is expected at the “Palata Srbija” government complex on Thursday evening, followed by talks between the heads of state and delegations, and the signing of several agreements, including one with a French energy company.
