French President Emmanuel Macron has begun consultations with political parties to appoint a new Prime Minister following the collapse of Prime Minister Michel Barnier’s government.
The government fell amidst a no-confidence vote over the controversial Social Security Bill. Macron emphasized that forming a new government would require concessions from all sides.
On Friday, Macron held discussions with his party members, centrist Socialists, and right-wing Republicans. However, far-left and far-right parties were not invited to the talks. The leftist political organization La France Insoumise (LFI) declined the invitation to participate.
Socialist Party leader Olivier Faure expressed readiness to make compromises for the sake of forming a new government. He stated, “All parties must make mutual concessions.” However, Bruno, a leader of the right-wing Republicans, hinted at challenges ahead, stating, “The right will never compromise with the left.”
Amid these efforts, President Macron faces calls for his resignation from various groups. However, he has rejected these demands, asserting his commitment to remain in office until the end of his term and to lead France forward.
