Leica announced MA Titan Set is a new film camera, which is made in a titanium case. The camera will be released in a limited edition of 250 copies at a price of $20,000 each.
The kit includes the APO-Summicron-M 50 f/2 ASPH lens, which also has titanium external components and a look similar to the very first 50mm Summicron-M introduced in 1956. A titanium lens hood is supplied with the lens and camera.
The Leica MA camera is completely mechanical and lacks screens, batteries, and connectors for connecting external devices. Settings – shutter speed and aperture – are set manually using mechanical controls on the camera body and lens.
According to Leica, the novelty was a tribute to the Leica M6 TTL Titanium kit, released in 2001.
