Kyrgyz companies intend to increase supplies of fruits, vegetables, cheese and trout to Russia. This was announced today, June 14, by IA 24.kg with reference to the Ministry of Agriculture of the republic.
“In the light of recent events, we can cover part of Russia’s needs for products that are no longer coming from the West. For example, organic meat,” said the head of the agro-food cluster department of the Kyrgyz Ministry of Agriculture. Uran Chekirbaev on the international diversified business mission of Russian companies in Kyrgyzstan.
According to him, in 2021 the republic exported $134 million worth of agricultural products (fruits, vegetables, dairy products and fish) to Russia. The volume of imports of agricultural products from Russia is estimated at $ 250 million. Basically, these are cereal products and vegetable oil.
“Ensuring food security is one of the key tasks of the Ministry of Agriculture. An important task is the clustering of the agro-industrial complex. In this part, we need to introduce digitalization, and cooperation with the Russian Federation could facilitate this. We want to increase the supply of fruits, vegetables, cheese and trout to Russia,” said Uran Chekirbaev.
He added that there are 13 trade and logistics centers and about 400 fruit and vegetable storage facilities in Kyrgyzstan. Together with the Asian Development Bank, four transport and logistics centers and two wholesale distribution centers are being built.
“We invite Russian companies to participate in this project so that you can have such facilities here,” said Uran Chekirbaev.
